Work Location: Remote/Work-from-home in Canada in Pacific time zone
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 hour shifts between the hours of 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM PDT
Engagement Model: Fixed-term full-time employment
Estimated Start Date: April/May 2025
Employment Duration: 6 months
Hourly rate: $26.60 USD

DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking a Live English Transcriptionist / Stenographer to join our team in Canada!
Role Summary
In this role you will accurately transcribe live virtual meetings ensuring every word and gesture are captured in real-time. The focus is to provide an exact written record of the meetings as they transcribed content is confidential and must be handled with strict discretion.
You will also support a variety of language-related tasks including non-live audio transcription data creation (such as generating natural sentences) annotation (such as speaker labeling and utterance categorization) and language data validation (including proofreading and quality assurance).
Role Responsibilities
Transcribe all spoken information during calls without relying on recordings or Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) support. The focus is to provide an exact written record of the meetings as they happen.
Ensure all spoken information and gestures are correctly captured during the virtual meeting.
Final transcription for the virtual meetings must be delivered within 24 hours after participating in the meeting.
Work on other language data tasks like annotation and data validation as per project priorities.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Job requirements
Candidates selected for an interview will be required to participate in a live 10-minute transcription test as part of the qualification process
Minimum 2 years of experience transcribing live real-time events
Idiomatic fluency in EnglishComprehensive understanding of the conventions followed during transcription
Excellent knowledge of English grammar and orthography
Completed courses in typing / stenography
Comprehensive understanding of the conventions followed during transcription
Shorthand typing speed
Proficiency using Google Workspace/Suite products
Stable internet connection and comfortable working with Google Chromebook (Note: equipment will be provided)
Excellent active listening skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
NAIT certification is a plus
Experience with steno machines is a plus
