Job Description

5th Grade Long Term Substitute ELA and Social Studies Rutland Town School is seeking a long-term substitute for 5th grade ELA and Social Studies August 22 2025 through December 12 2025The successful candidate will possess the following attributes;Knowledge of elementary research-based best practices including the Science of ReadingKnowledge of MTSS and layered instructional practices including data collectionKnowledge of small group instructional practice using layered instructional practices Knowledge of effective literacy practices including knowledge of the Orton-Gillingham approach for intermediate elementary studentsKnowledge of proficiency-based grading practicesKnowledge of the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards with the delineation between GRCSU priority and secondary standardsEvidence of integrating technology into the learning environment beyond the Supervisory Union agreed-upon programmingKnowledge of best practices regarding student management protocolsKnowledge of formative and summative curricular assessments and use of data to inform of best practices to support student social-emotional needs including regulation restorative and proactive approachesEvidence of strong connection with students and familiesStrong communication skills as evidenced through a quality applicationLicensed or eligible for Vermont Educators LicenseRutland Town School is a Pre-K-8 school of approximately 350 students.
