Job Description

Tooling Manufacturing Planner (Senior or Lead)

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior or Lead Tooling Manufacturing Planner (Level 4 or Level 5) to support the manufacturing and assembly of the Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage (CS) and Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans Louisiana.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion creativity and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory interacting with mechanics and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety quality and integrity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans and leads department/organization processes for developing implementing and maintaining various manufacturing plans Bills of Materials work instructions and illustrations to define and document as-built configuration.

  • Regularly engage with Tool Engineering Tooling Operations and Tool Industrial Engineering to help determine tool build method and location.

  • Develops complex tooling requirements based on manufacturing and producibility requirements and participate in tooling design reviews to provide feedback on manufacturability of new and changing tools and prepares build analyses and cost estimate reports.

  • Break down a tool design into its primary components for ordering of raw material and participates in source selection to ensure manufacturing requirements are met.

  • Manage backlog queues using Boeing business systems.

  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean production methodologies and supports benchmarking to incorporate best practices.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5 years of related work experience such as Manufacturing Engineering Tool Design Tool Construction or tooling value stream; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years of experience as a Tooling Manufacturing Engineer

  • 2 years of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems

  • 2 years of experience reading and comprehending engineering tooling drawings

  • 1 years of experience with extracting data from 3D modeling programs for dimensional measurements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiar with CATIA and CREO

Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $76500 - $103500

Lead (Level 5) Summary pay range: $87550 - $118450
