The Buyer 2 negotiates favorable terms volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use. Conducts full development life cycle including interviews of users development of requirements documents creating design specifications and implementation of requirements. Drives ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement.
This position reports to the Materials Manager and is part of the Materials department located in Cortland New York and will be an on-site role.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Identification of issues with materials such as GRIR over design shortages/overages and appropriately using problem solving to identify & implement countermeasures.
- Upkeep of deployed Kanbans to ensure they support the manufacturing site and PFEP requirements.
- Ensuring that Purchase orders are correctly maintained through their life cycle to ensure goods arrive as expected and vendors are paid in line with authorized terms.
- Working with Warehouse and Accounts payable teams to monitor and correct erroneous receipts & invoices.
- Purchase Order Creation and lifecycle management daily creation and maintenance of Purchase orders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 1 year or High school diploma/GED with 3 years of relevant work experience directly within buying or supply chain
- Experience working with supplier/vendor contacts to ensure materials are delivered on time and in proper condition.
- Proficient utilizing MS Office and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience working with ERP and/or SAP.
- Ability to remain organized manage time and properly engage with suppliers and team members.
