Job Description

The Manager of Assessment supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) by assisting with assessment activities for program outcome improvements and institutional compliance with the WASCSenior College and University Commission (WSCUC) requirements and standards. The incumbent will assist faculty with assessing student learning pertaining to program learning outcomes general education and core competency as well as institutional learning outcome. In addition the incumbent will support faculty in their use of an assessment management system for data collection and reporting. This position reports to the assistant director of assessment and works closely with the associate director of special projects.

Duties

  • Support Seaver College faculty with assessment-related deliverables. Systematic and cyclical meetings with faculty assessment planning and guiding assessment processes culminating in annual student achievement reports (ASARs) that includes assessment of program learning outcomes general education core competencies and institutional learning outcomes as accreditation compliance requirements.
  • Set-up key course assignments in the assessment management system which enables faculty to score student work to evaluate learning outcomes.
  • Support the assistant director of assessment in general clerical duties for program reviews and assessment including: submitting or processing payments updating assessment templates and tracking progress.
  • Update the OIEs assessment-related web pages.
  • Review all Seaver College annual student achievement reports and produce a yearly assessment summary for both program and institutional learning outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience or three years of experience in assessment or a Masters degree and a minimum of three years of professional experience.
  • Strong expertise in writing editing and proofreading at a level that produces high quality reports while adhering to deadlines.
  • Understanding of data stewardship compliance and handling of confidential sensitive and protected data.
  • Proven strong oral and written communication skills and strong organizational and task management skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty and in team environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Publisher). Survey Software (e.g. Qualtrics).
  • Familiarity with social science methodologies WSCUC accreditation requirements.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree and three years of experience in higher education.
  • Institutional knowledge of Pepperdine protocols processes and internal policies.

This is a Regular Nonexempt 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $29.32 - $31.87 per hour

Candidates who do not meet all of the required and preferred qualifications may be considered for the Coordinator of Assessment position. The expected pay range for this role is $24.66 - $27.40 per hour.

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience market conditions education/training and skill level. In addition to base pay Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitivebenefits package.
