CERTIFIED RECREATION AIDE (Temporary Part-Time) Extendicare Southwood Lakes

Qualified Activity Aides are invited to apply for the above Temporary Part Time Recreation Aide Position to work at Extendicares 150 -bed long-term care home; located in Southwood Lakes Ontario.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies

Therapeutic Recreation Kinesiology or related program.

  • Previous experience in Long Term Care setting and knowledge of working with

Geriatric and special needs residents.

  • Ability to read and write English and to understand verbal and written instructions

Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office Microsoft Publisher and World Wide Web is an asset.

Understanding and patience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements and evaluates individual and group programs in order to meet the physical emotional social intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Maintains program and resident records according to department policy.
  • Active participation in committees and care conferences.
  • Works together with other departments to meet resident needs.
  • Attends in-service education programs when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Resident Program Manager.
