Under the direction of the Social Work Lead the Social Worker is responsible for providing therapeutic support including counselling and intervention strategies to address social emotional needs that adversely affect the academic and social development of students. They provide individual and group therapy to students parenting and resource navigation support to parents and consultation support and psychoeducation to parents and school staff. As a member of a multidisciplinary team the Social Worker offers consultation and guidance to families and school staff liaises with professionals of various sectors in the community working closely with school administrators and other educators providing consultation psychosocial assessments and therapy to students and caregivers. The Social Worker also prepares case notes and reports in accordance with regulatory college standards.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Qualifications
Master of Social Work Degree
Registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
5 years of experience in providing therapeutic services crisis intervention working with children and families
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of a variety of therapeutic approaches
Sensitivity and understanding of various types of diversity ensuring that counselling practices are inclusive and respectful of all students and their families
Knowledge of community mental health services
Proven commitment to continuous professional learning and staying current with latest research
Ability to work independently and respond to crises with minimal supervision
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to triage and manage in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
A valid Ontario drivers license and the use of a personal vehicle
The following would be considered an asset:
Trained in ASIST (or suicide risk assessment and treatment)
Ability to create and deliver professional learning to large groups
Experience with a variety of software (including but not limited to Google Suite)
Familiarity with the education environment
The anticipated start date of this permanent full time (1.0 FTE ) position is August 25 2025. The annual salary range is $93671 - $110063. Comprehensive benefits and pension packages are also available.
