Job Description
Head Womens Softball Coach Part time
To serve as the Head Womens Softball Coach. The head coach will be in charge of all aspects of the Womens Softball program including recruitment of quality student athletes retention fundraising conditioning programs organizing and planning practices and game strategies and assisting in scheduling contests and coordinating travel.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student athletes in the area of Womens Softball.
- Recruit quality student-athletes for the Womens Softball program.
- Instruct methods strategies and coach student-athletes in the sport.
- Schedule practices and competitions.
- Assist with coordinating travel (ex: bus/van hotel meals etc.).
- Transport and supervise student-athletes while on the road.
- Train and supervise assistant coaches.
- Participate in fundraising activities to supplement the operational budget for the program.
- Monitor specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Operate the program under the rules and regulations of the University the NCAA and the North Atlantic Conference.
- This position will be responsible for monitoring academic performance of student athletes. This includes overseeing of class attendance grades class performance and study habits to encourage the attainment of a degree and maintain athletics eligibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Director of Athletics provides general supervision. Additional duties may be required at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience in physical education or related/appropriate discipline.
Current CPR/AED Certification.
Available weekday late afternoons evenings and some weekends.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relation with athletic staff trainers student-athletes and athletic administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior Womens Softball Head Coaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated organized individual with strong interpersonal skills and with knowledge of coaching teaching and recruiting techniques. Minimum requirements include a bachelors degree and at least one year of experience coaching at the collegiate level. Must be available to travel have a valid drivers license be able to drive for the purpose of university business and be able to work evenings weekends and holidays when necessary.
