Job Description

KPFF Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for its Los Angeles California office.

Job Duties: Work on a variety of engineering projects throughout planning design permitting and construction with a focus on civic and institutional buildings residential construction and research laboratory structures.  Design main building system - lateral gravity foundations and diaphragms; Draw and coordinate details and plans for drafting; Responsible for quality of Construction Documents for design work; Responsible for project RFIs and submittals; Supervise design engineers in construction administration tasks; Oversee design engineers work on system design; and Provide quality feedback to others during projects and in the Reviews/Coaching Program. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week.


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or a related field plus one year of experience in:

  • Structural analysis and seismic design using finite element analysis (FEA) software including ETABS SAFE and RAM Steel;
  • Analyzing and designing concrete steel and masonry structural members using hand calculations and software (Enercalc spCol) in accordance with ACI 318 AISC 360 and TMS 402/602 standards;
  • Designing gravity lateral and foundation (shallow and pile footings) systems for new buildings and existing building retrofits in high seismic hazard zones;
  • Designing new concrete steel and masonry buildings in accordance with ASCE 7 and California Building Code (CBC);
  • Developing retrofit schemes for existing buildings in accordance with ASCE 41 and California Existing Building Code (CEBC);
  • Developing structural drawings and details for permit and construction;
  • Providing technical guidance to and oversight of Design Engineers for conformance to a projects structural system design.

Also requires California Profession Engineer (P.E.) license in Civil Engineering.

Salary range: $108000 - $112000.
