Reporting to Manager/Head of Biodiversity and Habitats Natural Ecosystems you will actively contribute to a high-performing team and drive impact by working productively and efficiently collaborating closely with other Focus & Enabler areas and Corporate Services as part of our matrix structure and championing our One Minderoo Culture. Focusing where applicable on partners stakeholders and beneficiaries to execute a content strategy aligned with Minderoos strategic goals.
Qualifications :
You will:
- Provide technical input and advice to colleagues in Natural Ecosystems and other Focus Areas as needed in relation to projects under the Protect Ocean Biodiversity and Habitats Body of Work. In particular the input will relate to the Sustainable Seafood Industries Project and touches on issues of fisheries science management and policy overfishing sustainable aquaculture and related conservation projects in the Body of Work.
- Prepare briefing notes for internal and external audiences relating to projects in the Natural ecosystems portfolio specifically the projects Sustainable Seafood Industries and Ocean Conservation Impact. This includes reviewing and consolidating reports and data from partners to create comprehensive actionable insights; and develop summaries and recommendations to guide Minderoos strategic decision-making and engagement with stakeholders.
- Assess work delivered by partners in the Natural Ecosystems portfolio to recommend and build upon planned impact pathways within the Sustainable Seafood Industries project; and collaborate with the Advocacy & Engagement team on evidence-based materials.
- Advise on stakeholder engagement strategies to enhance the Natural Ecosystems teams ability to eradicate overfishing which includes investigating public and private sector management solutions as well as innovative technologies to support sustainable fishing and aquaculture.
- Support the Biodiversity and Habitats team to connect and deliver on collaborations across the Body of Work to ensure a net positive impact for our beneficiaries.
In addition
- Subject matter expertise in interdisciplinary fisheries science with a focus on sustainability fisheries governance and policy dynamics of the global seafood industry and systemic overfishing.
- Experience working in the science-policy-practice interface with stakeholders such as NGOs donors and businesses. Ability to navigate diverse political business and policy landscapes.
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
- Additional desired experience includes data science integrating gender considerations into fisheries policy food security in coastal communities and understanding the synergies between conservation and wild-caught fisheries.
- A bachelors degree in Marine Science Environmental Science or similar required . A masters degree or higher is preferred with at least 2 years relevant working experience.
