About the Role:
The Category Manager - Proteins will pair strong organizational skills with a true appetite to source and execute strategic partnerships with raw material sources and manufacturers to foster long-term relationships to support a dramatically growing business. A successful Category Manager will demonstrate attention to detail a dynamic personality urgency adaptability critical thinking and strong negotiating skills to drive long term value proposition.
Responsibilities:
Oversee purchasing program for the entire protein category including raw and value add items across all restaurants and central kitchen operations.
Negotiate benchmark and conduct RFPs to secure competitive pricing for poultry beef pork and seafood segments.
Discover and on-board strategic suppliers to support growth into new markets.
Create and oversee quality controls to ensure manufacturers adhere to companys product specifications.
Partner closely with internal manufacturing facilities to identify synergies and sourcing efficiencies.
Establish buying and inventory management processes with Suppliers and Distributors.
Communicate track and summarize product recalls/withdrawals.
Maintain proactive cross functional communication to support operations teams.
Manage price changes and conduct price verification with external partners.
Collaborate with SVP of Supply Chain on driving strategic planning initiatives.
Identify trends and forecasts to support volume swings due to new items or seasonality.
Create contingency plans to avoid supply interruption across the system.
Remain updated with industry trends commodity changes and sourcing best practices.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree required
Minimum 5 years of Foodservice experience in Purchasing Distribution or Supply Chain Management within the food service restaurant or hospitality industry
Computer knowledge required (Microsoft Office)
