Senior software engineer - Business account management - Java

This is the team behind the features that empowers businesses to grant custom access and set spending limits for their team members streamlining the management of their team and business expenses. Our mission is to power small businesses to get more done by giving them control of their teams global money movements.

Most recently were building on the infrastructure that enables businesses to add and manage their team members access to the business account empowering businesses to delegate jobs and workflows by having the flexibility to limit what their team can or cant do. Weve taken this even further with another project where we enabled businesses to separate how they held their money and manage each team members access to the funds. 

What Does Our Team Look Like

Were a cross-functional team of backend frontend iOS and Android engineers working hand-in-hand with a Product Manager Analyst and Designer. Together we deliver seamless impactful solutions across all Wise platforms. Collaboration is at the heart of what we dowe value ownership knowledge sharing and a commitment to building stable scalable systems while embracing fast-paced learning and iteration.

What We Expect From You

As a Senior Backend Engineer youll take the lead on solving complex technical problems driving the implementation of solutions and mentoring team members along the way. Were looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment enjoys taking ownership of projects and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences. 

Technical Excellence

- 5 years of experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and hands-on experience with the Spring framework.  
- A track record of writing clean maintainable code and a strong belief in best practices like code reviews open feedback and continuous improvement.  
- Deep familiarity with backend development including databases (SQL/NoSQL) synchronous/asynchronous communication and distributed systems.  
- Experience with web development technologies such as REST APIs microservices and CI/CD pipelines.  
- The ability to design technical solutions that balance latency throughput and scalability.  
- A passion for learning new technologies tools and patterns to solve problems effectively.  

Product Mindset

- A customer-first approachyou prioritize work that solves real customer pain points and use data to drive decisions.  
- The ability to take ownership of complex problems propose solutions and drive projects end-to-end to deliver measurable impact.  
- A knack for identifying opportunities to deliver value faster and providing constructive feedback on product and design decisions.
