Job Description

The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.  Job duties to include but are not limited to;

 Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.

 

  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations based on production schedules and requisitions materials from storage area.
  • Interprets specifications prints and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
  • Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops recommends and implements measures to improve production methods equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop department or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality cost and cycle times.
  • Estimates requisitions and inspects materials.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                  

Directly supervises 10-50 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Skills & Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to read write and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to peers and management.
  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software MS Office software to include Word Excel Access and PowerPoint.

 

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 

To perform this job successfully an individual must possess the outlined experience level education training minimum years of experience product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.                                           

  • Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
