Primary ObjectivesThe IT Project Manager is a professional staff member responsible for overseeing and driving the successful execution of IT projects from initiation to completion ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering measurable results. This role supports the organizations cycle of continuous improvement by ensuring IT services align with the strategic vision of the organization. The IT Project Manager will manage all phases of the project lifecycle including initiation planning execution monitoring and closure. This role leads cross-departmental teams within the organization and collaborates with external vendor project teams to achieve project objectives. The IT Project Manager will ensure projects are delivered on time within scope and within budget while adhering to quality standards and organizational values. Essential Functions- Leads all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closure.
- Develops and manages comprehensive project plans including scope objectives schedules budgets and resource allocation.
- Tracks progress and performance against project milestones and KPIs making real-time adjustments as needed.
- Identifies assesses and mitigates project risks issues and dependencies.
- Ensures adherence to organizational goals regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Leads cross-functional project teams providing direction support and conflict resolution.
- Facilitates effective collaboration among internal departments external vendors and consultants.
- Ensures timely execution of tasks by assigning responsibilities and managing workloads.
- Oversees vendor activities during system deployment integration and project delivery phases.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for all project-related matters.
- Maintains ongoing communication with stakeholders providing clear updates on status risks and decisions.
- Conducts presentations and regular reporting for executive leadership.
- Manages stakeholder expectations to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Manages project budgets approve expenditures in coordination with the CIO and address variances.
- Optimizes the use of personnel and tools across projects to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Coordinates the procurement of necessary resources and project-related tools.
- Monitors deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains thorough documentation of project activities decisions changes and lessons learned.
- Conducts post-project evaluations to contribute to continuous improvement and internal best practices.
- Ensures project documentation schedules and metrics are accurate and up to date.
- Ensures ongoing alignment between project goals and organizational strategy throughout the lifecycle.
- Participates in leadership meetings and cross-departmental planning efforts to support strategic initiatives.
- Promotes the use of effective project management tools and methodologies across the organization.
- Stays informed of industry trends and best practices in IT project management to drive innovation.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Job Requirements- Bachelors degree in Business Project Management or Information Technology.
- Masters degree in Business or Project Management preferred.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional certification required.
- Must currently be employed as a Project Manager or have held a Project Manager position within the past six (6) months with at least six (6) years of comparable IT project management experience demonstrating the ability to lead complex projects in fast-paced or evolving environments.
- Proven track record of leading cross-departmental teams and managing vendor relationships.
- Experience with both traditional and Agile project management methodologies preferred.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours as needed.
- Must possess a valid state drivers license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training leadership development and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Core Competencies Required- Demonstrated proficiency in leading complex IT projects through all phases of the project lifecycle using formal project management methodologies (e.g. PMBOK Agile Waterfall).
- To align project goals with organizational priorities and contribute to long-term strategic planning through effective project execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders manage expectations and foster buy-in.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience directing cross-functional teams resolving conflicts and mentoring team members to ensure successful project delivery.
- Proven skill in identifying assessing and mitigating project risks and issues with a focus on proactive problem-solving.
- Competence in managing budgets forecasting resource needs and ensuring cost-effective use of time people and tools.
- Solid understanding of enterprise IT systems infrastructure and integration practices sufficient to collaborate effectively with technical teams and vendors.
- Ability to make timely informed decisions in high-pressure environments while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
- Capacity to lead organizational changes associated with technology implementation including stakeholder training adoption and support planning.
- Commitment to ensuring all project outputs meet quality standards and comply with applicable policies standards and regulations.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and project needs and to apply lessons learned to improve future project outcomes.
- Expertise with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project Smartsheet Jira or equivalent) and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365 or Teams.

Compensation and Benefits- The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
