Description

Job Title: Math Head and G1/G2 Math support

Department: K3 and Primary

FTE/ Benefits Status: Full-time/Benefited

Supervisor: Assistant Head of School for Academics

Visa eligibility: Not Individually Eligible


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the point person/ program liaison with appropriate external contacts (e.g. national ministries and agencies for France Spain or China).
    • Prepare and submit documentation required for accreditation in conjunction with Assistant Head of School for Academic and relevant administrative Directors
    • Establish/maintain links/relationships with other international immersion schools in the region and local community language affinity groups in relationship to the Math program.
    • Host workshops and conferences for the external accreditation agencies or Math outside consultants.
    • Ensure effective communication and one school initiatives are

communicated supported and maintained.

  • Maintain communication and consulting relationships with online resource coordinators.
  • Monitor assess and reflect on online/formative/summative assessment progress of the Math program to understand horizontal and vertical trends of mathematics learning
  • Consult with appropriate resources (gifted MLL SST) for meeting the needs of any particular student.
  • Plan regular contact with teachers to:
    • Review data and use it to drive instructional strategies specific to Math standards and expectations within a class or grade level
    • Collaborate with Student Support Team on any students needing Math Support
    • Guide & Coach teachers in their understanding of standards as reflected in ISDenver curriculum and help them to develop language specific scope and sequence
    • Support vertical alignment of curriculum with consistent review and follow-up of established benchmarks and alignment with math specific standards. Provide coaching and instructional modeling as needed or requested by the teacher or Division Director.
    • Ensure technical components of Singapore method are being delivered within the classroom
    • Support and develop teaching team members to ensure differentiated approaches to learning and best pedagogical practices are in use and in line with the agreed ISDenver Learning principles and shared ISDenver curriculum.

  • Lead the Math Program Team by establishing agreements with regards to Math program meetings professional behaviors teaching resources & tools as per ISDenver established guidelines
    • Be available to meet with and support the Homeroom/ Lead Teachers includingthe possible need forparent follow-up meetings.
    • Establish and maintain a culture of peer coaching/mentoring and collaboration system with team members supporting colleagues in their professional growth.
    • Train and Support teaching team members to ensure understanding and use of curriculum planning utilizing the current Student Management System(s) and data-driven tools to assess student progress in Math
    • Maintain accounts for online resources manage consultants from online learning platforms (ie: Lexia A-Z learning Epic) and ensure ongoing training of those resources

  • Communication with parents:
    • Support the Division directors to ensure relevant consistent and effective communication to parents within the program Singapore curriculum learning and teaching and assessment data
    • Support the Division directions to establish consistent expectations for reporting and communicating progress with parents (on Toddle reports benchmarks)
  • Support the Division Directors in the recruitment of new faculty and in decisions regarding retention and renewal of contracts of English teaching staff.
  • Substitute Teachers
    • In collaboration with Division Director assign substitutes as needed
    • Hire train and support substitute teachers in Math to support Division directors
  • Liaise regularly with Division Directors to ensure effective and open communication.
    • Be a proactive member of the Academic Leadership Team that acts as a sounding board for the Assistant Head of School for Academics and represents the Math team in school-wide discussion and decision-making.
    • Help manage school change from the Math program perspective and support team members as new initiatives are implemented according to the Annual Action Plan and the ISD Strategic Plan
    • Collaborate with Divisional Principals on Math teacher placements to ensure best professional placement for student learning.
    • Assist in the review ISDenver Curriculum

  • Collaborate with Admission Dept and Division principals on student admission decisions including the testing of possible enrollees.
  • Based on approved funding:
    • Coordinate the ordering of books equipment and supplies for Math Program in collaboration with Division Directors
    • Review and track the resources to reflect DEIB initiatives
    • Ensure all program classrooms are adequately and appropriately equipped and inventoried annually.

Learning Support Responsibilities Grades 12

  • Through collaboration with the student support team identify students with learning differences through diagnostic tools formative assessments and observation and refer them according to ISDenvers System of Referral.
  • Design and implement targeted intervention plans including Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with teachers parents and students.
  • Support classroom instruction by partnering with English target language and subject teachers through collaboration or co-teaching as needed.
  • Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings maintain accurate records of student progress and meetings and conduct regular monitoring to inform next steps.
  • Communicate regularly with families and liaise with Division Directors the Learning Support Director and external agencies to ensure coordinated student support.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Qualified teacher status with experience teaching the subject
  • Knowledge of curricula and methodology at ISDenver (IBPYP)
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in age appropriate teaching methods
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy (specifically in Google Suite)
  • Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team and provide direction to others when needed.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand; walk; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms and see talk and hear
  • The employee may occasionally be required to bend stoop or kneel

Location and Schedule: Expected work hours are approximately 7:45 to 3:45 Monday through Friday.All employees must be based in the Denver metro area.
