Description

General Job Summary: Provides premier orthopaedic and athletic training services for athletic department of the assigned school while under the supervision of a Physician.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform school screenings.
  • Provide injury prevention programs.
  • Provide education to the student athletes and coaching staff.
  • Provides input as to the fitness and conditioning status of the student athlete.
  • Provide athletic consults injury assessment and treatment.
  • Provide case management of injured athletes undergoing rehabilitation.
  • Maintain student athlete information and provide feedback to the team physician.
  • Attends practices and games for area schools athletic clubs and community athletic events.
  • Acts as the liaison between team physician school district athletes coaches and parents.
  • Responsible for applying splints and fitting of durable medical equipment.
  • Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
  • Adheres to the Athletic Trainer scope of practice per federal/state laws.
  • Compliance with HIPAA OSHA and safety standards of the organization.
  • Develops and maintains a budget for the athletic training program of the assigned school.
  • Maintain their License and Certifications and ensure they are current and up to date.
  • Takes initiative in performing additional tasks that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements

Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Athletic Training required with preferred Masters Degree. Two years of previous athletic training experience preferred.


Other Requirements: Licensed in Athletic Training in the state of Ohio and current BOC certification required. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Schedules will change as school needs change including overtime and weekends. Travel based on team schedules/needs.

Equipment Operated: Standard medical and office equipment.


Work Environment: Training room sports fields and exam/procedure room settings.


Mental/Physical Requirements: Standing and walking 90 % of the time. Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking dressing etc. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
