Job Title: Workshop Supervisor
Location: Newark-on-Trent Nottinghamshire
Salary: 17 per hour
Reporting to: Production Manager
Hours: Full-time
Start Date: 9th June 2025

Overview:

Our client a respected timber manufacturing company based near Newark-on-Trent is looking to appoint a Workshop Supervisor to take on a hands-on leadership role at the heart of their production facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong woodworking experience who enjoys leading a team and ensuring high standards of craftsmanship. Youll be supported by senior management and play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the workshop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily activities of the timber workshop.

  • Lead and support a small team of wood craftsmen machinists and apprentices.

  • Organise workloads to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.

  • Monitor quality control and ensure all finished work meets the companys high standards.

  • Provide hands-on assistance with production when necessary.

  • Ensure the team adheres to health and safety procedures and equipment is used correctly.

  • Help train and mentor junior staff including apprentices.

  • Coordinate with the design and purchasing/logistics teams to ensure drawings and materials are accurate and available.

  • Report any machinery issues promptly and assist with basic maintenance or escalation.

  • Track production progress and keep the Production Manager informed of any developments.

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant experience working in a workshop environment.

  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and guide a small team.

  • Proficiency in the use of timber machinery and traditional joinery techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.

  • Organised dependable and highly safety-conscious.
