This opportunity is a 24-month term position which may be subject to renewal with possibility of permanency.

Acadia University invites applications for the position of Director Teaching and Curriculum Development a strategic leadership role within the Office of the Vice-Provost Curriculum & Planning formerly the Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning.

The Director provides critical leadership in enhancing teaching excellence and academic program development at Acadia University. The Director will guide institutional strategies that foster pedagogical innovation uphold academic quality support faculty development and contribute to ongoing review and reporting. This position collaborates with faculty members academic leaders and institutional partners to advance evidence-based practices in teaching curriculum design and scholarly inquiry related to learning and instruction

The Director will provide leadership in the following areas including but not limited to:

  • Supporting academic units in curriculum work including the review renewal and quality assurance of undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Developing and implementing faculty teaching and learning development programs that promote evidence-based reflective and inclusive pedagogical practices.
  • Advancing the universitys capacity for institutional research related to academic planning student success and curriculum impact through data-informed analysis and reporting.
  • Representing the institution on committees and in provincial and national communities of practice focused on teaching excellence and curriculum leadership.
  • Managing special projects and externally funded initiatives that contribute to strategic priorities in teaching innovation curriculum transformation and educational policy development.

The successful candidate will be a thought leader and skilled practitioner who demonstrates a deep understanding of curriculum theory assessment design inclusive pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning. The role requires strong strategic planning project management and communication skills with the ability to influence institutional culture and support the professional growth of educators.

The Director will supervise the Teaching Curriculum Development & Planning team and provide day-to-day leadership mentoring workload planning and performance management.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in curriculum studies higher education instructional design or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment with demonstrated leadership in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Proven success supporting academic planning curriculum renewal and program reviews and faculty development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of institutional research practices inclusive and equity-informed pedagogy and Canadian post-secondary policy contexts.
  • Experience with institutional research and educational data analysis to support academic planning and policy development.
  • Excellent facilitation interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to synthesize complex ideas and data for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a team of educational professionals.
  • Familiarity with tools for curriculum mapping teaching evaluation and educational technology platforms.
