- Lead strategic initiatives focused on improved student mentoring advising and career development.
- Coordinate the A&GS First Year Experience programs and courses.
- Teach sections of the AGS FYE class AGSC 1513 Where the Land Meets the Sky.
- Assist the dean and associate dean in leading new initiatives to improve college admission retention and graduation rates.
- Lead the planning of student-centric events and coordinate the participation of A&GS in events organized by OUs Office of Admissions and Recruitment.
- Assist faculty and students in resolving conflicts.
- Supervise the A&GS Director of Advising and NWC Outreach Coordinator in the Deans Office.
- Coordinate the submission of degree program changes and lead the A&GS Academic Programs Council meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: Masters Degree AND:
- 36 months experience with student services and programs
Equivalency/Substitution:Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students faculty and staff
- Must be able to create and deliver effective teaching courses
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to perform basic data analysis
Certifications:
- None
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate in written and/or verbal form.
Departmental Preferences:
- Experience in development and implementation of strategies and actions for student recruitment and retention
- Experience in teaching undergraduate courses
- Experience in academic advising
- Experience in supervising a team of staff and building connections across units of the college and departments on campus
- Experience in organizing student centric events such as graduation and award receptions and the A&GS Career Fair
- Experience in organizing and leading meetings and giving presentations
- Working knowledge of OU policies and procedures
- MS in atmospheric science geographic science climate studies or related fields
Supervision: 1-5 Staff
