Summary/Objective of Position:
As a Marketing Student Intern at Dine college you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of marketing and communications within the higher education sector. This internship will provide you with insights into marketing strategies social media management content creation event coordination and more.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

- As part of the Dine College Marketing team the student intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of engaging and informative content for various marketing campaigns.
- This will involve developing content for social media the Dine College website and other communication channels.
- The intern will gain hands-on experience in using design tools such as CANVA or ADOBE software to craft compelling content.
- Additionally they will learn the ins and outs of website creation using WordPress and will be responsible for making minor edits to the Dine College Website.
- The intern will receive comprehensive training on using Google Analytics 4 to analyze and report on social media metrics providing them with valuable insights into the impact of their content.
- They will learn how to extract and interpret data from various social media platforms and create reports that are easy for staff to understand and utilize enhancing their data analysis and reporting skills.
- In addition to content creation and analysis the intern will play a pivotal role in event planning.
- This will involve learning how to map out events on the Master Calendar understanding the importance of pre-planning and post-planning and gaining insights into how marketing strategies are implemented throughout the vent process drawing from the Dine College Navajo Philosophy.
- Furthermore the intern will have the opportunity to learn the basics of photography video capture and basic editing techniques.
- They will be introduced to ADOBE software to gain entry-level knowledge in these areas.
- This comprehensive internship program will provide the intern with valuable skills and expertise across various aspects of marketing and communications.
- If time permits interns will learn the basics of creating Press Releases and how to generate summaries for social media posting.
- It is also hoped that the interns will begin to process Press Releases on their own use the proper A.P. (Associated Press) news formats and check for grammar and other news-oriented knowledge0based information such as using proper surnames graphic and editorial guidelines copywriting legalities brand logos Social Media Guidelines Website Guidelines and basic Marketing terms and terminologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Dine College.
Preferred:
- Pursuing a degree in Business Graphic Design Photograph7y or a related field.
Knowledge:
- The Marketing Student Intern will gain real-world experience in developing communications skills both personal and technical including internal and external dealing with customers understanding customer service and providing assessments on types of communication.
- Students will also understand the essential dissemination of information technically and through written oral and visual methods.
Skills:
- Student interns will understand the value of solid communication skills and persuasive negotiating and presenting styles.
- They will also learn how to incorporate marketing skills into all tasks and responsibilities and obtain skills to enhance their understanding of the meaning of marketing.
- They will also learn the history of marketing advertising promotions and all other marketing elements that are incorporated into daily life.
Abilities:
- The intern will learn and adapt to making sound judgments about having access to content staff boundaries and all other equipment associated with the Marketing Department.
- They will learn to operate video cameras photography cameras and software assigned by the Dine College IT department.
- Also they will understand the Dine College policy and procedures and the supervisor will provide a comprehensive overview of the departments expectations.
- The intern will assist in basic understanding but will be afforded training and other skills that are needed to be successful.
Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:
- This role requires a blend of stationary and physical activities.
- The intern should be comfortable with both to effectively perform the required duties.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Clear and effective verbal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to travel if needed.
Other Requirement(s):
- Ability to speak Navajo but not mandatory.
