Key Responsibilities

• Repair maintain and enhance the visual quality of animated characters show action equipment (SAE) props and ride vehicles.
• Execute work following all approved procedures show documentation and safety standards within the allocated schedule.
• Communicate the status and show readiness of all elements promptly to leadership.
• Utilize a variety of materials (e.g. FRP silicone adhesives urethanes enamels gelcoat) for fabrication and repair.
• Apply specialized skills in fur work feathering costume fabrication sewing and both animated/static figure painting.
• Prepare and refinish ride vehicles and large props using professional automotive paint systems including base coat/clear coat applications.
• Recreate and record finishes from both documented and undocumented sources including field samples.
• Respond quickly to time-sensitive repairs with creative solutions to meet time and material constraints.
• Collaborate effectively with leadership partners and Art Direction teams.
• Maintain a safety-first approach adhering to all operational and environmental safety protocols.
• Stay proficient in core skill areas and adopt new materials and techniques as needed.
• Maintain compliance with Technical Services and Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) standard operating procedures.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• 3 years of experience with animated figures automotive finishing special effects prop/set fabrication or other comparable education/experience.
• Ability to use and maintain equipment relevant to the field including but not limited to power saws sanders adhesive applicators rotary tools pneumatic tools spray guns and sewing machines.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written oral diagram or schedule form.
• Willingness and availability to work flexible schedules including overtime weekends and holidays.
• Capable of working in elevated and confined spaces using fall protection and other required PPE.
• Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.
• Basic computer proficiency including the use of Microsoft Office and other standard software applications.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.

• Experience in professional automotive refinishing techniques including HVLP spray gun operation and finish correction.
• Skilled in the use of catalyzed paints multi-stage systems and specialty clear coats.
• Experience with polishing compounding and finish restoration to remove defects and ensure long-term appearance quality.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift carry push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to stand walk bend stoop squat kneel and climb for extended periods.
• Must be able to traverse uneven or rough terrain and climb ladders as needed.
• Ability to work in various outdoor conditions including excessive noise extreme heat or cold wet environments and high humidity.
• Frequent use of fine motor skills for tasks involving manipulation grasping and pinching.

Pay rate starting at $31.83 per hour
