Rate: $65$75 per hour

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Financial Accountant to join a leading public sector organisation on a contract basis with a permanent role at the end. The role is ideally suited to a technically strong accountant who thrives in fast-paced compliance-focused environments and is ready to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-led institution.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate monthly financial close and account reviews.
- Oversee preparation of annual statutory financial statements and external compliance reports.
- Deliver expert advice on accounting standards risk governance and legislative compliance.
- Draft technical accounting papers in line with the Financial Management Act and AASB standards.
- Engage directly with auditors resolving issues and managing key relationships.
- Maintain integrity of general ledger fixed asset register and banking operations.
- Drive internal control development process improvement and reporting enhancements.
- Provide coaching documentation and training to uplift financial capability across the function.
Must Haves
- Degree qualified with over 10 years experience in accounting or financial compliance.
- CPA CA or equivalent full professional membership required.
- Strong technical grasp of Australian Accounting Standards audit preparation and financial reporting frameworks.
- Clear communicator with experience influencing and advising senior non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong Excel skills and systems literacy (ERP experience highly regarded).
- Collaborative detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience in large complex organisations in the NFP space.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.
