Job Description

Overview

CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island Nebraska. in 1887. Today our hospital is a regional referral center with more than 100 physicians and more than 1100 employees working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home where they can be supported by their family friends and community.

The Emergency Room is a 26 bed and Level III Trauma Center that treat minor injuries to complex trauma cases and the care team has the skills and expertise to help in any situation. We are designated as a Primary Stroke Center a Pediatric Ready Hospital and have the experts you know and trust.

Responsibilities

Located on the sixth floor of St. Francis the 13-bed inpatient rehabilitation area offers care that focuses on improving a patients mobility and independence through physical occupational and speech therapies. St. Francis sees patients dealing with the physical effects of stroke fractures arthritis cardiac surgery or neurological diseases such as Parkinsons disease.

  • Use emergency triage protocol to intake discharge or admit patients.
  • Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team adapting care to changes in patients condition as needed.
  • Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values beliefs and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patients condition.
  • Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes such as patient experience initiatives mentoring etc

Compensation: Base rate shift differential

Incentives: up to $15000 sign-on bonus up to $10000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

Nurse Residency: offered for all New Graduates - Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) required within 3 months of hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 5 months of hire
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 5 months of hire
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within 6 months of hire
  • TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required within 12 months of hire
  • ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) required within 18 months of hire.
