Job Summary
The Recovery Coach leads and supervises clients in the long-term/IOL program providing guidance and
oversight of activities during the work shift.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty
satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:
Lead and supervise clients in the program on the living and programming floor(s) and during all
duties and activities during the work shift.
Assist in performing client intake and discharges.
Supervise and ensure safe self-administration of all prescription medications non-prescription
medications and vitamins to clients.
Drive clients to and from appointments and client outings.
Administer and supervise UA testing and BA testing.
Care for clients that are too sick to attend programming including checking on clients hourly
taking vitals (upon nurse directive) self-administering medication/vitamins and bringing them
meals etc.
Develop healthy relationships with clients in the program maintaining appropriate boundaries
and being a role model and mentor.
Be compassionate and respectful towards clients at the same time being firm and direct
pointing them toward their personal goals.
Provide spiritual care to program clients. This may involve praying with clients leading
devotions and/or assisting with memorization of bible passages all upon clients request.
Assist clients in difficult or emotional situations or circumstances that may arise.
Discuss behavior and/or attitudes that are interfering with clients or others programming as
needed. This could result in the coach using a consequence management system.
Model and enforce all program rules in such a way that teach the clients according to the
culture of honor and program guidelines.
Take attendance and ensure the clients are accounted for and in the correct locations.
Maintain the data entry for the daily facility log and shift report ensuring these are kept up to
date.
Maintain regular building security checks and record the security checks in the facility log (more
specific to overnight staff).
Monitor evening lights out and conduct morning wakeups to include cleanup breakfast and
morning devotions (more specifically to overnight staff).
Complete room and person searches to ensure clients are in compliance with program
guidelines and document any non-compliant findings.
Oversee client visitation with family members and people from the community.
Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):
High school diploma or (GED) required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to meet at least one of the following requirements:
o a course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a bachelor of
arts bachelor of science or associates degree; or
o one year of experience with vulnerable adults; or
o experience as a certified peer specialist according to MN Statutes Sec. 256B.0615.
Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges including mental
health and addiction.
The ability to live and work by MnTCs culture of honor & core values practicing compassion
honor respect integrity servanthood and trust.
The ability to live and work by the Recovery Coach Code of Honor.
Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to interpret bible verses and apply biblical knowledge in an appropriate and relevant way
to each clients individual life challenges and needs.
Must be able to pray out loud with clients and other staff for clients needs.
Valid drivers license in the state of MN with a clean driving record and ability to be insured
under the organizations vehicle insurance carrier.
Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to stand on feet for the majority of an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to climb up and down three flights of stairs several times during a regular shift.
Must be able to walk during the majority of a regular shift.
Must be able to lift 30-50lbs and carry some distances.
Compensation:
Weekday 1st shift: (7am - 3pm): Base Rate $17/hr
Weekday 2nd shift: (3-11pm): $1/hr shift differential ($1 base rate of $17 $18/hr)
Weekday or Weekend 3rd shift (11pm - 7am): $4/hr shift differential ($4 base rate of $17 $21/hr)
Weekend 1st shift: $2/hr shift differential ($2 base rate of $17 $19/hr) and Weekend 2nd shift: $3/hr shift differential ($3 base rate of $17 $20/hr)
