Job Description

Buffalo Trail Public Schools is committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment supported by a highly effective team.

Buffalo Trail Public Schools is excited to launch the first year of our Human Services Collegiate and is seeking multiple educators to support this initiative. These positions will be based out of the Buffalo Trail Learning Hub in Vermilion Alberta and involve close collaboration with Lakeland College. Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

These roles will support the BTPS Human Services Collegiate by designing and delivering Career and Technology Studies (CTS) courses within the Human Services cluster including but not limited to:

  • Health Services Foundations

  • Child Care Development

  • Community Care Services

Specific Position Details:

  • Start Date: August 25 2025
  • End Date: June 26 2026
  • Location: BTPS Learning Hub in Vermilion AB
  • Subject Areas: CTS Human Services Cluster (Health Services Foundations Child Care Development Community Care Services and others)
  • Contract Type: Interim
  • FTE: Full-time and part-time positions available (please indicate your preference in your cover letter)


Specific Position Duties:

  • Design and deliver CTS courses within the Human Services cluster including Health Services Foundations Child Care Development and Community Care Services.
  • Develop and implement both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences using Google Classroom and other digital tools.
  • Collaborate with Lakeland College and BTPS staff to create student-centered programming aligned with Albertas CTS curriculum and pathway structure.
  • Support students in building foundational knowledge practical skills and career awareness in the Human Services field.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Human Services Collegiate by developing innovative flexible instructional models that serve students across the division.


Qualifications and General Duties:

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrates a student-centred philosophy committed to maximizinglearning in a safe and caring environment
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and educational tools for communication and planning
  • Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning including formative and summative assessment strategies
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and foster a sense of belonging
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
  • A willingness to contribute to the schools extracurricular programs is considered an asset
  • Experience designing or delivering Career and Technology Studies (CTS) or dual credit courses is considered an asset.

The Buffalo Trail Learning Hub is a dynamic and innovative learning environment designed to meet the evolving needs of 21st-century learners.
