OSP Field Inspector
The OSP Field Inspectors focus would be to assist the FTTH OSP Engineer in all aspects of deployment of Outside Plant in assigned markets. Responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the extensive FTTH fiber optic network by performing various duties including confirming facility placement and completing regular cable equipment or pole inspections. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate with contractors performing such work with a basic understanding of industry standards and construction of FTTH fiber optic networks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections of fiber optic network to confirm production numbers ensure restoration is completed properly and satisfactorily.
- Must be able to take concise field notes and be responsible for all field work and the final drafting of the field notes when required.
- Must be able to make recommendations on all findings and needed changes with Director of Construction to give information to OSP Engineer)
- Perform other assisting duties as requested.
- Traveling to our various job sites in Ohio Pennsylvania and Michigan.
- If you are assigned a company vehicle you will be responsible for stocking cleaning and reporting maintenance needs to the Fleet Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in telecommunications.
- Previous quality control experience is preferred but not required.
- Valid Drivers License with satisfactory driving record within company standards is required.
- This job will include traveling 5 days a week. You will receive hotel accommodations and per diem for every night you spend the night.
- Must be available for to assess emergency damage and provide a detailed report of necessary actions to the team.
- Must have functional knowledge of PC applications and OSP record.
- Must understand outside plant design principles and work order procedures.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects at a time.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate various types of construction equipment and tools.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to driving and construction work.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Overtime is required and you must be able to work nights weekends and holidays dependent on the job and the companys needs.
