Job Description

Interim Deputy Head of Finance
Location: Hybrid with some office presence as required
Salary: 57000 per annum
Contract: Interim

We are recruiting for a values-led organisation seeking an Interim Deputy Head of Finance to play a key role in managing payroll operations supporting financial reporting and overseeing a small team. This is a hands-on role well suited to an experienced finance professional with strong leadership and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries and liaise with external payroll providers
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems and internal controls
  • Produce draft monthly management accounts including full balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations
  • Maintain and regularly update forward-looking cash flow forecasts
  • Support the preparation of year-end management and statutory accounts
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure timely and accurate reporting to budget holders
  • Line manage and support the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant including performance reviews and development planning
  • Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality finance service across the organisation

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in payroll management accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and pension administration
  • Confident in using financial systems and advanced Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or supervise finance staff effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with stakeholders across departments
  • A commitment to the values and mission of the organisation
