Interim Deputy Head of Finance
Location: Hybrid with some office presence as required
Salary: 57000 per annum

We are recruiting for a values-led organisation seeking an Interim Deputy Head of Finance to play a key role in managing payroll operations supporting financial reporting and overseeing a small team. This is a hands-on role well suited to an experienced finance professional with strong leadership and technical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries and liaise with external payroll providers
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems and internal controls
- Produce draft monthly management accounts including full balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations
- Maintain and regularly update forward-looking cash flow forecasts
- Support the preparation of year-end management and statutory accounts
- Work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure timely and accurate reporting to budget holders
- Line manage and support the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant including performance reviews and development planning
- Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality finance service across the organisation
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in payroll management accounting and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations and pension administration
- Confident in using financial systems and advanced Excel
- Demonstrated ability to manage or supervise finance staff effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with stakeholders across departments
