This is your chance to keep Southwest Florida Water Management District humming along with seamless precision. Using a customer-driven team approach our General Services Bureau performs the important work behind the scenes that keeps our entire organization operating smoothly as we manage the water supply and protect our water quality. You will have the opportunity to perform daily landscape maintenance tasks ensuring the upkeep and aesthetic quality of the grounds as well as perform facilities maintenance repairs and modifications for District owned buildings and grounds projects at our Brooksville Service Office. With this role you will work under the supervision of the Facilities Manager. In joining our team youll play an important role in enhancing the results to ensure a brighter future for the environment of Florida.

Compensation:

Tradesworker 1 $14.27 - $15.80
Tradesworker 2 $15.20 - $16.83

The starting hourly ranges are included for the Maintenance and Trades Technician profile which reflects the minimum to 19.5% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for daily landscape maintenance.
  • Useshand tools power tools and equipment needed to maintain and repair buildings and grounds.
  • Maintains the Brooksville campus to provide a safe and clean working environment.
  • Uses computers for data entry vehicle utilization e-mail etc.
  • Serves as a self-starter and team player with the ability to work alone or with a team.
  • Construction related tasks such as carpentry drywall acoustical ceiling plumbing electricalheating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) landscaping and painting.
  • Conducts emergency maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Conducts some work in an office environment interacting with other District staff.

Working Conditions

Ability to lift and carry a 30 pound pack while walking up to 50% of the shift. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to extremely hot humid weather conditions mosquitoes and other pests. May be exposed to elements including sun and rain during an entire work period. Must be able to bend squat and climb on a regular basis. Satisfactory completion of a work capacity test may be required every two accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.

Required Credentials for Tradesworker

Tradesworker 1

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or vocational degree
  • Obtainment ofIS-100 IS-200 IS-400 within one (1) year of hire
  • Valid drivers license

Tradesworker 2

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or vocational degree
  • Two (2) years experience in building maintenance grounds and landscaping maintenance or related experience
  • Obtainment ofIS-100 IS-200 IS-400 within one (1) year of hire
  • Valid drivers license

      Preferred Credentials for Tradesworker

      • Verifiable job-related experience in construction or building maintenance related tasks such as carpentry drywall acoustical ceiling plumbing electrical heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC).

      Additional Details

      This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week (4) four ten hour days out of the Brooksville FL office. This position is eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
