We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk CouncilsFinancial Compliance Team as a CIPFA Trainee Accountant.
Your role:
Responsible to the Finance Compliance Manager we are looking for a motivated and resolute individual who aspires to become professionally qualified and develop their career within the Financial Compliance Team.
This entry level role will be provided with training and experience across all areas of the Councils Financial Compliance functions and provides the opportunity to gain knowledge of Local Government Finance along with establishing an understanding of financial statutory guidelines and the application in the production of the Councils Statement of Accounts.
The role will work towards attaining the required competencies to make an effective contribution and to support the Specialist Accountants within the Compliance team.
Following the completion a Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) professional qualification the role will function as lead support on the production of the Statement of Accounts including all main financial statements such as the Balance Sheet Comprehensive Income and Expenditure Statement Cash Flow Statement and Group Accounts.
In collaboration with colleagues you will ensure that the whole service is delivered in a professional manner in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and policies. Strategically you will contribute to the development review and improvement of strategies policies and/or procedures that reflect changing external and internal requirements and regulations. Contribute to the development of corporate best practice on securing economy efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources.
In addition undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as requested by the Chief Finance Officer Deputy or Finance Managers to protect the Councils financial interest.

What you will need:
We are looking for someone who seeks to expand on their existing accounting knowledge who thinks analytically and is proactive highly organised and pays attention to detail. You will have effective communication and interpersonal skills as you will work closely with operational and back-office services within the Council and external partners to support the delivery of the Councils corporate projects and initiatives.
You will hold three GCSEs Grade A-C (or grades 4 and above) and two A-Levels A-C or equivalent (Subjects must include English & Math) seeking a role in a progressive forward-thinking organisation which offers the opportunity to demonstrate key achievements to date further develop your skills and lead on the delivery of a successful Finance function.
