Blessey Marine ServicesInc. owns and operates one of the youngest multi-faceted inland tank barge andvessel fleets in the United States.
We are in search of a Boat Maintenance Planner for our Harahan LA office.
JOB TITLE: Boat Maintenance Planner
DEPARTMENT: Boat Maintenance & New Construction
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Supervises: This position has nosupervisory responsibilities
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Coordinatethe activities of the Boat Maintenance Department and ensureplanning/scheduling objectives are met by performing the following duties:
Workclosely with boat maintenance department management and appropriate members ofother departments to ensure that repair and maintenance priorities areunderstood and properly assigned.
Useall appropriate means of communication to function as the primary point ofcontact for all boat maintenance and repair related concerns and activities.
Conductall necessary intra- and inter-departmental communication to ensure that allrelevant persons are updated on maintenance and repair activities. Report ondaily maintenance & repair status keeping in touch with all departmentstaff for updates; represent boat maintenance department in morning meeting.
Monitorlocations and activities of boats that need attention and dispatch/schedule theappropriate Port Engineer and/or vendor to handle the assigned task.
Monitorthe renewal and annual inspection dates of boats with US Coast Guard and/or ABScertificates. Notify other departments and schedule the appropriate renewal andannual inspection. Dispatch the appropriate staff to facilitate the inspection.
Ensurethat port engineers and vendors submit a follow-up report for all work and track work orders and purchase orders related to repairmaintenance audit and inspection tasks. Coordinate with port engineers to keepinformation correct and current.
Reviewboat maintenance records and ensure that all regular maintenance of boats isperformed as prescribed. Coordinate updates of open items in database on a dailybasis. i.e.: add information to the requires repairs/needs attention recordor update after completion.
Utilizecomputer applications including Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and SAP to manageand track all maintenance activities.
Assumeother duties and assist department management with other tasks as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professionaljournals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports businesscorrespondence and procedure to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers clients customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions topractical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.
