YWCA Princeton is currently conducting a search for a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) who is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising marketing and communications strategies to advance the mission of YWCA Princeton. The CAO will oversee all fundraising marketing and communications efforts with a particular focus on growing sustainable philanthropic support to ensure long-term mission impact and financial resilience. This includes leadership of individual and institutional giving grants special events and new revenue-generating initiatives aligned with organizational priorities. This role also provides strategic leadership for branding public relations and community engagement efforts.
The CAO strongly represents the values of the YW shares a passion for its mission to eliminate racism and empower women and represent these values to internal and external stakeholders. This includes maintaining strong relationships with a wide portfolio of major donors institutional funders staff the public Board members and others.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Expansion and Diversification:
- Develop and implement a multi-year advancement strategy to expand and diversify revenue streams including individual giving major gifts corporate sponsorships foundation support planned giving and government grants.
- Identify and pursue innovative fundraising opportunities and strategic partnerships that align with organizational goals and community needs.
- Launch and lead new initiatives to engage untapped donor audiences and increase unrestricted support.
- Strengthen the organizations capacity to generate earned revenue in collaboration with program leadership where appropriate.
Donor Development and Stewardship:
- Cultivate solicit and steward a portfolio of major donors with a focus on long-term relationship building and sustained giving.
- Oversee the planning and execution of the annual fund fundraising campaigns donor communications and recognition strategies.
- Ensure effective use of Raisers Edge or similar CRM system to support donor segmentation tracking and data analysis.
Grants and Institutional Giving:
- Lead a strategic grants program including prospect research proposal development reporting and compliance management.
- Cultivate strong relationships with corporate foundation and government partners to secure programmatic and operational support.
- Track and report on grant impact aligning funding opportunities with strategic initiatives.
Marketing Communications and Brand Elevation:
- Oversee all aspects of marketing and communications to build awareness deepen engagement and position YWCA Princeton as a leading voice on racial and gender equity.
- Provide strategic oversight for digital strategy media relations print materials storytelling and internal communications.
- Serve as a public ambassador for the organization at community events donor gatherings and stakeholder meetings.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Supervise a multidisciplinary advancement team including development events communications and marketing staff.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO Board of Directors and Development Committee to achieve fundraising goals and align advancement efforts with organizational strategy.
- Develop and manage the advancement budget and revenue forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
- At least 810 years of progressively responsible fundraising and development experience including a minimum of 5 years in senior-level leadership.
- Demonstrated success in expanding and diversifying revenue streams through major gifts grants sponsorships and innovative fundraising strategies.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit communications marketing and donor engagement best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Raisers Edge or similar CRM systems.
