ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Forestry Crew Worker

Recreation Services Department

Full Time Temporary


Hiring Pay Range: $17.00 to $19.75

FLSA Status:Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

Some weekend and evening hours may be required

Essential Duties:

Duties as Forestry Crew Worker include fuel reduction and hazard mitigation within the Prescott Fire Wise Community. Duties may entail brush clearing under adverse conditions related to climate and terrain. May be required to assist in snow removal according to snow response policy and procedures. Utilizing a variety of specialized tools equipment and techniques on fuels management projects. Tools experience may include chain saw Pulaski shovel McLeod rake and other custom tools brush chipper and pole saw. Maintenance shop housekeeping duties(Sweep Mop Restroom Cleaning etc.) Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred but not required coursework in Forestry and/or Community Risk Reduction relevant to fuels management. Any equivalent combination of education experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Licensing Certification and Other Requirements:

Candidate of choice must pass pre-employment drug test and extensive criminal background check and have/maintain drivers license throughout duration of employment. Preferred but not required possession of CDL Class A.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Arduous. Duties involve rigorous field work requiring above average physical performance endurance and superior conditioning. Work requires prolonged standing walking over uneven ground recurring bending stretching reaching lifting and carrying items over 50 pounds for possibly long distances in possibly adverse weather and temperatures.

Sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and City vehicles as needed.

Sufficient to clearly concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.


Successful candidate will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include:

  • Drug screening
  • Motor vehicle records check
  • Criminal background screening
