The team is revolutionizing spaceflight and are currently being utilized on missions with NASA the Department of Defense and commercial space companies. With many more exciting projects on the horizon our team could use your curiosity passion talent and experience to help us Build Above.
Summary
We have a current opportunity for a ContractQuality Assurance Inspectorfor up to 6 months located at our facility in Goleta CA. It is possible if performance is great and the business need still exists that it could at some point become a full-time regular employee role. In this role you will be performing in-process inspections and receiving inspections of aerospace parts.
Responsibilities
  • Performs receiving and receiving inspection of purchased parts and subassemblies.Verifies supplier compliance with all purchase order requirements specifications and/or drawing requirements.
  • Performs dimensionalinspections using hand-held instruments to measure parts and assemblies to drawing requirement.
  • Performs in-process inspectionsof assembled hardware per drawing requirements verifies accuracy of entries on data sheets work orders adhesive mixes and other data-keeping systems.
  • Performs finals inspections ofassembled hardware per drawing requirements and is the liaison to the program Quality Engineer (Reports quality problems or findings to the QE). Assists Quality Engineering andOperations in the investigation of non-conformities.
  • Accurately documents the results of the inspections.
  • Performs quality review of workorders prior to their closure to verify count and condition of parts orassemblies that all operations are complete that associated kit listsare accurate that parts are correctly labeled; and assists the Quality Engineer (as needed) to collect data for the assemblies End Item Data Package.
  • Performs source inspections atsub-tier suppliers as needed.
Ideal Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 5 years of experience in QualityInspection preferablyin a high reliability small batch high varietymanufacturingenvironment.
  • Ability toread drawings and prints.
  • Understanding of the set-up and use ofmechanical inspection devices.
  • Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge ofaerospacesystems methodology and terminology
  • Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO9001 requirements
  • Familiarity with documenting product quality through paper and electronic systems including Word Excel and web-based systems.
  • Sufficient oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities.
  • Knowledgeable aboutcalibrationsystems and internal controls associated with calibration.
  • Occasionally works in confined spaces.
  • Occasionally works in heights of 30 ft. or more in a scissor lift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and color vision.
  • Occasional travel up to 5-10% for project testing.
