The Role & Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Camera Enforcement Unit at West Midlands Police as a Business Support Assistant.

As a key member of the team you shall routinely communicate with a significant number of internal and external partners and stakeholders by managing the administration which is generated from Road Traffic Offences which is key for keeping our roads safe

The Key Responsibilities involve

To provide general clerical assistance

To input retrieve and present data using appropriate computer systems.

To deal with enquiries from either the public /internal or external agencies that will provide the recipient with sufficient data and information to deal with the enquiry effectively.

Triaging enquiries for our enquiry team for the Camera Enforcement Unit as appropriate which may lead to a prosecution.

To produce statements for court

Deal with all correspondence and initiate and answer letters related to Road Traffic Offences including complaints following actions taken. This includes sending emails letters and handling telephone complaints

Skills & Experience

Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to negotiate and influence others through verbal and written communication effectively and professionally.

Excellent customer service skills.

They will be expected to manage their own workload on a daily basis giving regard to legislative time frames and demand as well asbeing a confident decision maker who is able to interpret relevant legislation and guidance when considering the disclosure of information with minimal supervision

You will be required to have contact with members of the public and professional bodies and be expected to represent the service in a professional and helpful manner and assist in the delivery of effective and efficient administrative support.

Proficient in all Microsoft applications including Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Word to fulfil role requirements.

Experience in writing concise reports whilst maintaining close attention to detail to inform and update others.

Work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.

Probationary Policy:

Under the Probation Policy if you are currently in your probation period during your probationary period you will not be permitted to apply for alternative police staff roles within the Force unless there are exceptional circumstances. In such cases you would require the support of your line manager prior to applying for alternative roles and if successful your probationary period will start over.-Policies - Probation Period (Police Staff) ()

Hours

Monday to Friday 0800 - 16:00

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearancescrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.

Location: The role is presently at Wednesbury but is likely to move to Dudley in late 2025
