Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

Fixed Term Position until 30 November 2025

Full Time at 80 hours per fortnight

The Department

The Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Project (the project) was established in late 2020 as a joint initiative between Monash Health and Alfred Health to explore options for a shared pathology service model. The Project aims to deliver a shared Alfred/Monash Pathology service. It will consider the benefits and risks of this venture considering previous explorative work carried by the two health services as well as information gathered throughout the project development. The project will run in conjunction with broader pathology system reform being undertaken by the Department of Health. Underpinning this project is the establishment of an operating model for the shared service including operational and clinical frameworks quality and safety systems corporate support services and a shared laboratory information system and various technology components.

The Position Summary

This roles purpose is to work with the project technology team to build test and implement all foreign system interfaces (FSI) for the Shared LIS.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Build a large number of interfaces within the Shared LIS Project timelines
  • Organise and conduct system integration testing (SIT) within the Shared LIS Project timelines.
  • Participate and support the user acceptance testing cycles (UAT) for the project.
  • Shared LIS Go-Live planning and interface deployment for Project Go-Live.
  • Support the solution post-Go-Live.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • University-level Computer Science Degree
  • Rhapsody Associate Certificate (Rhapsody Professional Certificate Desired)
  • Technical skills/knowledge/experience
  • Rhapsody Integration Engine experience
  • At least 2 years hospital/contractor HL7 V2 integration experience
  • Experience with HL7 test tools such as HL7 readers senders and receivers
  • JavaScript programming language
  • Database SQL Queries
  • Knowledge in Computer networks firewall rules and TCP/IP Ports
  • Cerner Millennium EMR HL7 Integration Experience Desired
  • iPM PAS HL7 Integration Experience Desired
  • Pathology Medical Device Integration (MDI) Desired
