Job Description

Purpose:

Are you creative Would you enjoy teaching the People We Support new skills

To plan and facilitate a choice of engaging nature-based art and craft activities for the People We Support to take part in in accordance with seasonal trends and themes using both traditional and modern techniques. To work collaboratively with each individual to design and create saleable unique artisan items which have been created using sustainable natural and donated resources where possible.

With co-production at the heart of everything we do the programme will be focussed on developing an understanding of the individual target outcomes for each participant and then shaping safe meaningful nature-based arts and crafts activities to support them to achieve their personal social educational and vocational goals.

All of our programme participants are adults with learning and other disabilities living in our communities or attending on a day-participant basis

Duties & Responsibilities:

Main responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the choice of projects offered to the programme participants are tailored to their individual needs and are both challenging and achievable.
  • To review the progress and development of each individual work with the team to gather evidence to demonstrate progression whilst recognising achievements and identifying new/individual goals and objectives.
  • Contributes expertise to the continual improvement of our Nature Based Arts and Crafts programme in meeting the individual outcomes of the People We Support.
  • Work flexibly and creatively to respond to the needs of the People We Support.
  • To support and encourage programme participants to work effectively in a therapeutic yet social environment. Observe the wellbeing of the participants and report any concerns over emotional or physical changes to your supervisor.
  • Be aware of policies and procedures including whistleblowing safeguarding health and safety policies and risk assessments. Report any concerns to supervisor/line manager to ensure the safety of programme participants and complete safety event/concerns forms/reports as required.
  • To ensure that materials and equipment are safe to use and request replacements of equipment and materials when depleted.
  • To ensure that collaborative artisan craft items are of a high standard for retail in the shop at Larchfield the Camphill Village Trust online store and at various fairs throughout the year.
  • Be available to work some weekends for craft fayres and our annual community Christmas Fayre.
  • Be confident to promote the Trust the community and our triumphs on our socials.
  • To proactively participate in regular supervisions with your line manager and to attend social care and craft-based training in line with government guidelines and Trust requirements.
  • Fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and exploration.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Level 2 Health & Social Care or a willingness and ability to achieve within an agreed period.
  • Understanding and/or experience of working with people with a variety of care and support needs and of all abilities and their families.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Evidence of a good working knowledge of nature-based arts and craft activities.
  • Full and valid driving license and access to a vehicle during working times and a willingness to travel as required.

Key Competencies:

  • Self-motivated dynamic and able to work with a high level of autonomy and without close supervision.
  • Good organisational skills and proven ability to manage own time and workload.
  • Kind and approachable with excellent listening skills tact and keenness to offer support.
  • Passionate about developing and delivering a progressive service that supports people to develop via individual progression pathways; is caring and adaptable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
