Job Description

Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Gorman Lab is seeking a highly motivated passionate Postdoc to investigate the mechanisms of autoimmune disease and/or inflammation. This is a mentored position in which the candidate will design and conduct research experiments; manage research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication presentation and future research; and contribute to grant writing.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research.
  • Demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses.
  • Ability to conduct scientific research experiments analyze and summarize data and results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to present ideas and results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a biological science chemistry physics or other relevant area M.D. or equivalent.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.
  • Must be detail-oriented organized and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and write summaries of result.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong publication track record in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals in the field of immunology.
  • Interest in autoimmunity and/or infectious disease.
  • Immunology training or experience.
  • Experience with small animal models of autoimmunity or infectious diseases and/or with human immunology along with human specimens specifically peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).
  • Experience with Flow Cytometry and/or RNAseq.
  • Experience with tissue culture techniques.
