Our services include a state-of-the-art psychiatric urgent care center and a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioral health center outpatient inpatient partial hospitalization (day programs) assessment and testing residential addiction treatment and specialty services such as crisis response employee assistance programs forensic psychiatry and psychology and neuromodulation. On-the-job educational programs for nurses psychologists advanced practice providers psychiatrists and chaplains are equipping the next generation of care providers.

We are excited to launch a 4-bed pilot program within our Child and Adolescent Unit focused on providing specialized inpatient care for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability. This innovative program will lay the foundation for a future 10-bed unit at Pine Rests Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health opening in March 2026.
The average patient stay is expected to be 25 days. The program emphasizes reducing challenging behaviors (such as aggression self-injury and property destruction) using a behavior analytic approach and closely monitored behavioral data. Family and caregiver training are a core part of the care model. You will be part of a collaborative team that includes psychiatrists behavior analysts therapists social workers and techniciansall working together to help patients build functional skills for successful reintegration into home school and community settings.
What Will You Do
As a Registered Nurse at Pine Rest youll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and RN is responsible and accountable to perform the nursing process as a basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Pine Rest RNs show compassion to recipients of services coworkers and surrounding communities through integrity stewardship empowerment the promotion of diversity and professional excellence.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses persons served care needs develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and continually reassesses plan of care according to persons served care needs.
In collaboration with the physician provides/coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of persons served.
Assists in the teaching of persons served families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates persons served families/significant others in discharge/after care planning needs.
Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
Responsible for documenting reporting and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures.
Responsible to monitor for and report to the physician(s) any potential risk to persons served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
Creates a customer/client friendly environment by following quality improvement standards maintaining professionalism initiating and maintaining positive relationships with departments/programs co-workers and external customers.
Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse persons served populations. Identifies specific persons served needs and implements persons served centered compassionate care.
Functions as a clinical leader delegating/coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols standards of practice and standards of care. Gives input into process for improvement.
May be responsible in training direct care staff.
May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program.
May be responsible for scheduling staffing and obtaining pre-authorizations.
Responsible to role model the mission and values of the organization presenting a professional image that is projected in appearance attitudes and behaviors time management and communication skills. Provides spiritual emotional social mental and physical support to patients.
In the community residential setting required to support and promote a recovery focused environment and person-centered approach within the program.
Commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in hospital and residential areas.
Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training.
What Does the Role Require
Education/Experience:
Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan Bachelors Degree in Nursing is preferred.
May be required to have professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory as required through completion of education from an accredited school of nursing.
Satisfactory previous clinical experience.
Work Schedule:
This position is onsite and may require both weekend and holiday hours.
