Start Date: September 1 2025

Salary: $60648 - $114735 current provincial recruitment and retention allowance Assignment: 1.0 Continuing Position

  • SENIOR ALTERNATE EDUCATION TEACHER
SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE PRINCIPAL

The School District

Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh Neduten and Wetsuweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.

We serve 3000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Our region has affordable housing welcoming communities and a lower cost of living than many other regions. Come and enjoy over 200 lakes rivers and streams and an abundance of outdoor recreation at your doorstep.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Education
  • A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare.
  • Training and recent successful experience teaching both literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills in a
variety of curriculum areas at the secondary grade levels.
  • Ability to teach core programs in English Mathematics Social Studies and Science.
  • Ability to work with at risk students with social/emotional challenges as well as with students with special vocational/academic needs.
  • Ability to work with staff in developing functional practical IEPs for students involving integration where feasible into mainstream programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Inclusive Education Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages
students in active learning experiences.
  • Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.
  • Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices in order to improve learning outcomes for students.

  • Integrating Indigenous culture and Ways of Knowing into curriculum and learning activities.
