Rogerson provides affordable housing memory care and health care solutions for older adults in Massachusetts. A resource to this community since 1860 today we serve more than 2000 older adults across 30 properties and programs providing a diversity of individuals with greater independence and longevity.
Our mission is to enhance the well-being of older adults by elevating housing community and care to address their needs as they age. Our goal is a world where every older adult feels valued and can age with dignity in their community.
Rogerson is embarking on an ambitious five-year strategic plan that will bring housing and services to an additional 1000 older adults in Massachusetts. Along the way we are revitalizing the communications and marketing team which will be at the forefront of this growth and mission expansion.
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
- We are seeking a talented and driven Writer & Editor who is as skilled at composing human-focused storytelling as they are technical briefs to join our upstart team to broaden and deepen our written content abilities and capacity. Your words will power our brand the mission of which is to change the perception of affordable housing and the senior care crisis in Massachusetts.
- To be successful in this role you are a strategic writer with proven ability to write clear concise and compelling copy for marketing and communications campaigns across mediums. Your ability to distill complexities into accessible storytelling is paramount. Ultimately you understand the power words can have to move people and pride yourself in doing just that.
- Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications the Writer & Editor will play a pivotal role in advancing Rogersons mission by bringing the stories from our communities to vivid life and bringing them stakeholders across mediums in unexpected ways. Your work in this role will change the lives of real human beings all over the Commonwealth.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Content Creation: Craft high-quality content (blog posts web copy news articles press releases collateral and other assets) for use across channels (web social media print email etc.) to reach our stakeholders (potential and existing donors prospects/residents/participants and their loved ones government agencies corporate foundations the general public) in a clear persuasive and engaging way that causes them to act
- Editorial Leadership: Own the editorial strategy and roadmap ensuring all finished pieces meet brand standards and engage target audiences
- Content Strategy: Assist in creating strategic marketing content that supports Rogersons brand initiatives and growth
- SEO: Incorporate keyword research meta data best practices and on-page SEO strategies to drive organic traffic and boost search engine rankings
- Advancement Support: Assist the Advancement team in their fundraising efforts by providing messaging recommendations and copywriting support for grant proposals solicitations and other initiatives where and when needed
- Internal Comms: Collaborate with the Human Resources team to develop internal communications materials and initiatives to build community keep our organization updated and recruit talent
- Brand Development: Support and collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications to establish brand and writing guidelines for the organization and a suite of relevant impactful brand materials
- Thought Leadership/Executive Comms: Collaborate with CEO/President Senior Management Team and Board of Directors to elevate the voices of our organization into the conversation around affordable housing and senior care
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 years of professional writing experience with at least 2 years focused on content marketing or editorial roles and 2 years focused on technical writing
- Portfolio showcasing diverse content formats - content marketing long-form articles thought leadership pieces ad copywriting etc.
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable content recommendations
- Demonstrated understanding of SEO and application of best practices into web writing to drive organic traffic
- Excellent verbal communication skills to present ideas clearly and effectively across teams
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with different departments and teams
