Job Purpose
The R&D Technical Activation and Specific Management Scientist Role will be responsible for supporting both the PC NA Activation and the NA Specification Management teams. The NA Technical Activation team helps to land and communicate new technologies and scan the competitive landscape for the business. In the NA Activation role the scientist will be working cross-functionally in gathering information about new launches and technologies planning and executing new demos helping create and execute multi-media assets for technology activation with internal sales and marketing teams and external derms influencers and customers among others.

The Specification Management Team (SMT) brings data together from numerous sources and translates that into clear and defined written specifications in the SAP Product Lifecyle Management and SAP Global Master Data Systems. They need to ensure specifications are written in accordance with agreed quality standards and regulatory guidelines for Ingredients Formulas Packaging and Finished Goods. They partner with Formulation Packaging Process Engineering Analytical Microbiology Regulatory Planners Supply Chain and Suppliers to deliver accurate Specifications On Time and In Full. The Research and Development Specification Management Scientist for Personal Care will be responsible for the creation delivery and maintenance of specifications and technical information for a subset of the North America portfolio.

What Youll Do
The Technical Activation Scientist role is accountable being a key partner within R&D/CTI & the NA BU Demand Creation Brand Leads for Brand Content Experience and Social for Powerbands in NA.

• Partner Brand and Customer teams to customize science communications and product assets to local requirements including adopting to the Social First framework. Work closely with the marketing team to create science content that aligns with marketing strategies not limited to demos claims product stories/ visuals. Ensure that the content is scientifically accurate and engaging for the target audience.
• Develop R&D Technical insights on consumer competitor and market - Be the owner of market product knowledge in NA and ensure adequate databasing of information to effectively determine new claims content and communications for NA Personal Care.
• Develop and Implement Science communications: Create and disseminate clear and effective science communication materials related to the product. Design and execute comprehensive communication plans that engage various stakeholders and effectively convey complex scientific concepts in an accessible and engaging manner. Oversee the creation of a wide range of communication materials including press releases articles social media posts videos and presentations. Ensure that all science content is accurate engaging and tailored to the target audience content space and culture.
• Collaborate with Social team on relevant local science engagement plan working with regional Engagement team and local demand creation teams; co-develop calendar for influencer community and PR activities annually through content/ events/ community relationship and education become the voice and face of product expert on Personal Care in market
• Drive competitor monitoring data generation and analysis for PC and ensure up-to-date information and assessment to guide brand plans
• Support Personal Care NA R&D Capability building specifically in the evolution of developing Social First capabilities and the role in which R&D can play merging science communications with culture and consumer cohorts to develop future fit R&D Science communications relevant to today and tomorrows consumers.

The SMT scientist role will be responsible for the North America Specification Management supporting innovation projects cost transformation initiatives data quality regulatory concerns among other things. The scientist will work cross functionally to input into networks get data from various sources build specifications for your portfolio and keep cross functional team updated. You should have a strong appreciation of how SMT fits into the Unilever innovation process and will gain understanding of others roles in the process. As an SMT member you will become a superuser for relevant systems helping with training change requests and user acceptance testing. What Youll Need to Succeed

• BS or BA in Chemistry Biology or related scientific field or equivalent experience
• Preferably 3 years in product development product claims and communication quality or any similar R&D workstreams with technical specifications management especially:
• Experiences in claims content and science communications creation
• Exposure to global & regional work experience is an advantage. Strong Technical and Analytical skills Scientific or Engineering background with high technical proficiency and insight to provide technical solutions on product development and optimization to business team
• R&D Business Acumen - Has appreciation of R&D interfaces across the business and rigor in R&D discipline - Knowledge of working with cross-functional team would be a plus e.g. supply chain (manufacturing) product development procurement finance S&T.
• Creative Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex scientific information in a clear and engaging manner using communication tools and platforms including social media. Content creation experience and multimedia production software is an advantage
• Social Savvy: Is strongly in-tune with todays social media content platforms and communities - with a strong understanding of how to effectively communicate to audiences. Experience with PR and media presentations/ public speaking is an advantage
• Passion for Science Communication: A genuine passion for science and a commitment to promoting scientific literacy and public engagement in science.
• Organized and able to manage workflow of multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
• Understanding Unilevers key technologies for cleansing & deo categories (for Activation) and Specification Requirements and Purpose (for SMT) roles
• Creativity and rigor in designing new demos.
• Proof-reading skills with strong attention to detail.
• A strong affinity for working with Databases Technical Software Excel Word PowerPoint multi-media tools and ability to continuously learn new digital tools as required.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $69360 to $104040. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications qualifications and education and other business and organizational needs.
