Job Description

Site: Toronto Rehab University Centre
Department: Allied Health - Musculoskeletal Program
Reports to: Allied Health Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week
Status: Temporary Full-Time (  ( October 2025 )
Closing Date:  June 28 2025

 

The Occupational Therapist is an integral member of the outpatient rehab team allied health and clinical program.  Through the provision of individual and group-based patient and non-patient care activities the OT effectively enhances the quality of life of patients by:

  • Helping patients prevent alleviate or minimize dysfunction to facilitate their successful engagement in meaningful activities at home in the community and workplace. 
  •  Providing comprehensive assessment treatment and consultation services primarily for patients with oncology diagnoses chronic pain conditions MSK issues and traumatic injuries. 
  • Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team to provide patient focused care.
  • Provide education to patients and their families 
  • Provides training and supervision for Occupational Therapy students.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds meetings committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services.
  • Complies with and commits to patient safety and hospital policies.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (. (OT)) or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
  • MOCA certification is preferred
  • The ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and to function in an independent self directed manner is required.
  • Previous experience working as an OT in a physical medicine and rehabilitation setting is required. 
  • Previous experience working with oncology and chronic pain patients is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Mindfulness and Motivation interviewing would be considered an asset. 
  • Excellent interpersonal time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written oral and nonverbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
