Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

PRT is seeking a Full time Forest Nursery Leadhand to be based in Cottage Grove OR at PRT Cottage Grove.  In addition to involvement in the day-to-day operations associated with container seedling production this position will require the Nursery Leadhand to lead a team of English and Spanish Nursery Workers. The Leadhand will be accountable for production employee training evaluation task assignment assisting in shipping and receiving timesheet data reconciliation and data collection while adhering to the occupational health and safety standards. Key Accountabilities of the Leadhand:

  • Assist the Nursery Manager with planning and achieving production targets
  • Enforce safe work practices
  • Train new employees for various nursery worker positions
  • Keep neat and accurate records
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
  • Set targets (i.e. production timelines) and evaluate achievement

ABOUT THE TEAM:

The Leadhand will lead a team of workers under the supervision and management of a Nursery Manager.

LOCATION: PRT Cottage Grove in Cottage Grove OR USA


Qualifications :

WHO YOU ARE:

Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 3-year nursery experience with crew supervision involvement
  • Must be a US citizen or have the ability to legally work in the USA
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Must have appropriate work attire for varying weather conditions
  • Must have good manual dexterity and eyesight
  • Must have a team-oriented personality with a positive attitude
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Must have commitment to quality and safety
  • Must have strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word and Outlook)

Additional or Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to speak write and read in English and Spanish
  • Ability to operate farm equipment i.e. forklifts and Skid-steer equipment

  • A competitive salary of $18 - $20/hr. based on experience and preferred qualifications.
