Job Description
Position Summary: Willard Elementary School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that fosters childrens social emotional and cognitive development. This role involves implementing age-appropriate curricula maintaining a safe and engaging classroom and collaborating with parents and staff to support each childs DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and school guidelines for early childhood educationDesign lessons that accommodate multiple learning stylesAdapt curriculum in accordance with student IEPs and 504 plansCreate a safe welcoming and inclusive classroom environmentTeach basic skills in literacy numeracy science social studies and social and emotional learning using a variety of instructional methods Establish effective classroom routines and proceduresMonitor and assess student progress; maintain accurate records and share findings with parents/guardians and appropriate school personnelUse assessment data to inform and improve instruction and identify students for MTSSEncourage the development of social skills through group activities and structured playCommunicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and classroom activities through weekly newsletters emails and conferences twice a yearManage classroom behavior and provide guidance and support to individual students as neededFoster a classroom culture that promotes cooperation respect and enthusiasm for learningCollaborate with other teachers school staff and administrationParticipate in professional development and school events as neededREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:Familiarity with Fundations Heggerty Everymath Mathematics EL Education Curriculum Open Circle Responsive Classroom and use of google docs is preferredAbility to collaborate and work as part of a team with the other Kindergarten teachersExperience working with students of varying cultural backgrounds is preferredAbility to apply knowledge of current research and theory in the educational fieldAbility to communicate clearly both in oral and written formAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff and parents Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and the communityUse instructional technology appropriately and work with students to facilitate their use of instructional technologyUnderstand confidentiality requirements regarding student recordsAbility to exercise good professional judgment in assessing emergency situations and act accordinglyAbility/willingness to participate in ongoing professional and staff developmentEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education (Masters degree preferred).State teaching certification/license for Kindergarten or Early Childhood EducationPrior experience teaching young children in a classroom settingStrong communication interpersonal and organizational skillsPatience creativity and a genuine love for working with childrenLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:Must possess valid Massachusetts teacher licensure PreK-2.
