We are currently hiring for an English specialist at our new Skyrattler campus.
Competition: 2024 - 106
Level: Grades 5-7
This is a probationary position with the opportunity to become continuous based on evaluations. The successful candidate will be a specialist in reading comprehension grammar and writing skills. The school is structured similarly to a junior high where specialist teachers rotate between classes.
Class sizes range from 22-24 students and the campus will have 240 students next year.
As part of a dynamic and growing team successful applicants will:
- Deliver engaging structured lessons aligned with AACSs direct instruction model and a strong emphasis on academic rigour including grammar reading comprehension poetry and writing skills.
- Exhibit excellent classroom management skills by creating a structured learning environment that fosters student confidence accountability and high achievement.
- Integrate Indigenous perspectives into teaching and classroom practice in meaningful ways.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of instruction contribute to school-wide initiatives and uphold shared expectations.
- Build positive relationships with students and families promoting a safe respectful and inclusive classroom.
- Embrace and model the schools core values.

General Qualifications- Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited institution
- Current Alberta Teaching Certificate (interim or permanent)
- Successful teaching experience
- Experience in a homeroom environment would be beneficial
- Cover letter including vision of improving student learning
- Resume listing specific courses taught and all previous teaching positions
- Recent performance review
- Copy of Alberta Teaching Certificate (interim or permanent) - required. Applicants without a teaching certificate will not be considered
- Successful applicants will be required to provide a recent Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
