Fall 2025 term
Course: ITAL 205D1 002 Italian for Beginners (3 credits)
Teaching Schedule: Monday Wednesday and Friday 4:35-5:25 pm.
Course start/end dates: August 27 2025 to December 3 2025
Location: SH
Course details: Grammar reading dictation. Intensive practice in speech patterns and written structures. Conversation and composition. Visual material and selected readings will be used in describing the making of contemporary Italy.
Salary (current rate for 3-credit course teaching): $11090
Salary (rate for 3-credit course teaching as of September 1st 2025): $11479
A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request review of their students grades;
g) meeting with students being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
Additional Information:
This is the first half of a 6-credit course that will be taught in the fall 2025 academic term at 3 course hour credits. This contract begins on August 27 2025 and ends on January 2 2026.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
M.A. or Ph.D. in Italian or registered in the Italian Studies graduate program at McGill. Native or near native fluency in Italian required.
Experience:
A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a graduate student in Italian Studies in the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures at McGill University. Course lecturers must demonstrate a familiarity with the course materials used in Italian Studies language courses.
