Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Community Ministries Worker B assists individuals and families who are seeking aid and assistance from or have been referred to The Salvation Army. This may involve providing administration and operational requirements of special programs such as Third Party (Cheque/Trustee) Administration.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:
- Conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/family protection issues) determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client.
- Provides spiritual guidance and uses every opportunity to pray with and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clients/families enabling them to become part of the Body of Christ.
- Through exercising empathetic care assist individuals to determine an appropriate and mutually agreed upon goal process; facilitates effective problem-solving behaviours of the client/family.
- Provides emergency assistance service (i.e. housing shelter food clothing etc.) in accordanze With policy.
- Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
- May provide budgeting guidance and/or trusteeship serves for clients.
- Assists in the organization maintenance and general cleanliness of the Food Bank.
- Receives (and/or declines) and sorts/organizes non-monetary donations.
- Networks and refers to The Salvation Army government and community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and programs when necessary.
- May develop and conduct workshops for clients/families as appropriate.
- May direct and supervise volunteers which include recruitment selection training and Discipline.
- May organize seasonal or special programs (i.e. Christmas hampers Toy Distribution Summer Camps Food Drives Community Dinners etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
- Reports directly to: Corps Officer
- Direct reports for this position: Community Ministries Coordinator
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Uses or maintains organization assets in accordance with established guidelines.
- Does not process any financial transactions with no budget responsibilities.
- Moderate material responsibility: proper storage handling and usage of food and

- Part-time 30 hours per week
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of a high school diploma
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Up to six (6) months of prior experience including life skill. Skills and Capabilities (examples provided below):
- Heavy lifting: able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Valid Full Drivers License
- Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrate organizational skills ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Good listening interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Demonstrates ability to work with agencies peers staff and volunteers.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion (i.e. The Salvation Army Abuse Registry vulnerable sector check.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $19.93 to $24.91 with a maximum of $29.89.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
