Job Description
Local Substitute Teacher (2025-2026 school year)
Local Substitute Teachers are individuals who hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in a field other than education OR are current Teacher Education students of senior standing (48 credit hours).
Full Day Pay Rate: $173.85
Half Day Pay Rate: $86.92
Application Requirements:
- NDE Local Substitute permit required by time of hire. (Note: Human Relations training is required in order to obtain the NDE Local Substitute permit)
- Review of theLocal Substitute Application Process. This includes all the other steps required to become a local substitute.( REMINDER: Current LPS employees retiring or changing from a benefits eligible position to a Substitute Only position are subjected to NPERS and PPACA re-employment rules and will need to wait 90 or 180 days.
Do not apply for this position if you hold a degree in education and hold (or recently applied) a Nebraska Teaching Certificate. Instead apply for the Certified Substitute Teacher application.
