Senior Java Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Java Software Engineer to join the team of one of Kindgeeks forward-thinking fintech partners.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a modern financial operating system built to transform how global businesses manage and automate their finances. As a key member of a high-impact engineering team you will work on scalable backend systems that power innovative payment solutions financial automation and banking integrations.

REQUIREMENTS

Were looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer who has:

• 5 years of professional backend development experience ideally in payments or fintech-related products;
• Strong knowledge of at least one modern backend language (e.g. Kotlin Java Go Rust or Scala);
• Proven experience working with APIs including integration with third-party financial or banking APIs;
• A deep understanding of payment processing ledgering and financial reconciliation systems;
• Solid experience with relational and non-relational databases especially PostgreSQL;
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational data modeling;
• Experience designing and developing secure scalable and reliable distributed systems;
• Familiarity with GraphQL REST RPC or other API architectures;
• A strong grasp of software design principles architectural patterns and the software development lifecycle (SDLC);
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities;
• Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
• Bonus points if you have:
• Experience working in the banking or financial services sector;
• Knowledge of financial protocols and industry standards (e.g. ISO 20022 ISO8583 SWIFT SEPA Open Banking APIs);
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) containerization and orchestration tools (like Kubernetes);
• Exposure to infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform;
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog CloudWatch or Lightstep;
• JVM performance tuning and monitoring experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Java Software Engineer you will:

• Design and build core backend systems that power embedded financial solutions for banks and financial institutions;
• Lead key work streams from technical design through deployment;
• Build robust integrations with global payment rails and financial APIs;
• Write clean maintainable and testable code leveraging established architecture and design patterns;
• Collaborate with product and design teams to bring domain-driven user-focused solutions to life;
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers;
• Drive innovation and problem-solving across technical challenges;
• Advocate for engineering best practices and continuous improvement across the team.
