Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day 184 days per year starting at the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year.
Salary: East Valley Certificated Salary Schedule $56397 - $113589 depending on placement per degree credits and experience.

Job Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the principal or designee the role of the Multi-Tiered Support Specialist is to assist and support building staff and administration in improving student performance in academic behavior and social skills for all students who are in need of accommodations or struggling in the school setting.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Support the cognitive processing of others through the planning observation and reflection process.
- Provide ongoing professional development trainings to certificated and classified staff adjusting the workday when needed and as approved by the supervisor.
- Support building staff in developing early interventions strategies for struggling students.
- Conduct observations and make behavioral recommendations for at-risk students.
- Help buildings and conduct informal assessments FBAs and develop success plans for students and track progress and recommend changes as needed.
- Assist in the design and implementation of individually tailored interventions for meeting the social/emotional needs of students.
- Provide expertise in social skills training.
- Support Building MTSS Teams MDT and the 504 process.
- Actively engage in problem solving and crisis intervention as an individual and team member.
- Use knowledge of state and federal laws regulations district policies and procedures in working with staff principal and supervisor to ensure compliance.
- Provide technical assistance guidance and participation regarding the districts discipline policy and procedure.
- Support building staff in the determination of the least restrictive placement options for students.
- Working cooperatively with the school support staff and programs for the benefit of students.
- Support transition of students entering and exiting programs including grade level transitions.
- Participate in the development of school-parent partnerships and participate in problem-solving meetings.
- Assist families by referring/linking them with community resources.
- Create and support a safe learning environment using strategies to resolve barriers that could impact the capacity of students to learn.
- Collect data needed to determine effectiveness of interventions.
- Attend district meetings specific to job function.
- Have working knowledge of 504 IEPs and special education laws.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and district policies and their application to providing services to students and to supporting staff.
- Ability to plan prioritize and follow through.
- Ability to appropriately assess and to respond to individual and group situations providing conflict resolution support and assistance as appropriate.
- Ability to work independently and to work as an effective member of a team.
- Professionally interact with a diverse range of colleagues members of the public and students.
- Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds or 33% of body weight whichever is less.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teaching certificate no later than the first contracted day of the 2025/2026 school year with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations.
- A degree with either a Special Education endorsement (preferred focus in Behavior Intervention) or Masters in School Counseling or School Psychology with an Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
- Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
This position shall be evaluated per the terms of the East Valley Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. The process shall include an evaluation of the employees performance of the above essential job functions and required skills.
